Vision Trips – Rwandan Beauty Through The Eyes of Education
In 2020, Rwanda was named one of the top 30 emerging travel destinations in the world and the number one destination on the African continent, according to TravelLemming. It is a recognition that surprises no one who has been here!
There are many reasons people choose to visit Rwanda:
Some come for the thousand hills rising in layers of deep green.
Some come for the rich culture and safaris.
And some come because they have heard that Rwanda has one of the most remarkable stories of resilience and rapid transformation of this generation.
But this year, we are inviting you to see Rwanda through an additional lens:
Through the lens of transformative education.
Through the lens of resilient students full of potential.
Through the lens of a unified community.
Rwanda’s beauty is not found only in its landscapes. It is found in its people and in the future they are building together for the next generation.

A Country Moving Forward – Together
Rwanda’s national transformation has been deliberate and deeply intentional. Education for all sits at the heart of its long-term vision not simply as a system of instruction, but as a foundation for national unity, economic development, and shared opportunity.
Across the country, policymakers work tirelessly to strengthen systems that promote equitable and inclusive access to education for every child. School leaders and teachers work daily to build positive learning environments where every child is seen, valued, and supported. And communities are coming together around the shared understanding that raising responsible, capable future leaders is everyone’s responsibility.
At Wellspring, this is the context in which we are privileged to serve.
We partner with Rwanda educators and communities to strengthen child-centered teaching practices, embed social-emotional learning, and build classrooms where students are not only academically prepared, but emotionally resilient and socially grounded. We work to shift mindsets, affirming that a child’s education is not the responsibility of teachers alone, but of an entire community.
We do not come with quick fixes. Through Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), we walk alongside school communities to identify and strengthen the assets that already exist within them, building sustainable change from within.
And when you step into one of these school communities, you begin to feel the impact: students confidently sharing their ideas and awareness of who they are, teachers facilitating respectful dialogue, and schools building a culture where emotional safety and academic growth are experienced together.
On a Wellspring Vision Trip, you get to experience this up close!

What Makes a Wellspring Vision Trip Different?
In a world where travel can often feel transactional, a Wellspring Vision Trip is entirely different. It is relational and an opportunity to witness transformation firsthand — to experience Rwanda’s story and culture in a way that feels personal, meaningful, and deeply human.
A Vision Trip is not:
- A showcase of projects.
- A moment designed to evoke sympathy.
- Charity tourism.
Instead, it is an invitation to:
- Come to learn and understand.
- Recognize the powerful change that education can drive.
- Align your heart, mind, and action around something impactful.
- A well-deserved holiday.
And along the way, you will experience Rwanda’s extraordinary beauty: the early morning sunrise stretching across the hills, the warmth of shared meals, stories, and laughter, the vibrancy of local culture, the rhythm of traditional dance, and encountering the hospitality that so uniquely defines this nation.

Most importantly, you will:
- Sit inside classrooms where social-emotional learning is strengthening resilience and shaping confident learners.
- Engage in thoughtful conversations with school leaders about growth, challenges, and the future of education.
- Visit school communities where education is embraced as a shared responsibility, not only by teachers, but by families and local leaders.
- Reflect alongside Rwandan leaders and fellow travelers on what authentic global partnership truly looks like.
Our Vision Trip is a purpose-driven travel experience that bridges awareness and action. It allows visitors to connect stories with lived experience and connect reports with tangible impact. It deepens commitment and broadens perspective in ways that are difficult to put into words, but impossible to forget.
Many who have joined previous Vision Trips describe the experience simply as clarifying:
“We came together as strangers 12 days ago, we part as friends whose lives have been greatly enriched by our journey together, experiencing Rwanda and the work of Wellspring. Our lives have been impacted by our experiences and observation of servant leadership, the program implementation in the schools, and the excitement and engagement of community and families at the schools, among many other things. Murakoze Rwanda, it has been a memorable week. Thank you Wellspring for sharing with us how your vision has already impacted communities in such a powerful way.”
